Washington State University is launching an online certificate program focused on building trust between tribal communities and medical professionals by creating greater understanding of traditional ways of health and healing. The Indigenous Healing Perspectives Certificate was developed in partnership with Northwest tribal communities and elders and is taught by regional Indigenous health leaders and educators. Study finds lower survival rates of cardiac arrest from Asian adults (opens new window)
Asian adults are less likely to survive out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OCHA) than their White peers, according to a new study published in the Journal of American Heart of Association on Wednesday. Researchers reviewed data from the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES), a registry for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA), for nearly 279,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests concerning Asian and White adults in the U.S between 2013 and 2021. The report, “Unheard: How Silencing Latino Voices Harms Latino Health Equity,” is the organization’s third in a series of health equity studies.
