Latest National Data on Suicide in Racial and Ethnic Groups (opens new window)
Since 2011, the age-adjusted suicide death rate has increased for all races and ethnicities. For American Indian and Alaska Native populations, the age-adjusted suicide death rate increased from 16.5 per 100,000 in 2011 to 23.9 per 100,000 in 2020. Read more (opens new window)

BATON ROUGE – Within all dialects of English and within all cultures and languages, about two children in every classroom struggle to learn language as well as their siblings and peers and would be diagnosed with a Developmental Language Disorder, according to DLD and Me. Season 2 finale, episode 12: (opens new window) Dr. Erica Joseph grew up on former slave quarters just outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with her single-mother and grandparents. Dr. Joseph credits the community-service oriented values instilled by her family, and her time helping with her grandmother’s chronic diabetes, for guiding her towards a career in health care. Today, Dr. Joseph, is a DNP and Ph.D. trained psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and scientist serving as Intensive Case Management (MHICM) Co-Lead at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System.
