Maria Veiguela, RN, is a third year Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at Wilkes-Barre University Passan School of Nursing. Maria has worked at Rogers Behavioral Health outpatient clinic in Miami, Florida since 2019. Her duties at this nonprofit organization include caring for those suffering from mental health conditions across the life span. Previously, she worked at Palmetto General Hospital’s psychiatric unit in Hialeah, Florida. 
 
Maria’s passion for understanding mental health disorders and their treatment began at Florida International University (FIU). She graduated from FIU with a Bachelor of Art in psychology. After some work experience, Maria sought a career in nursing at Miami Dade College and graduated with honors from Phi Theta Kappa. Maria’s latest pursuit is a culmination of life, work, and educational knowledge that she wishes to share with all and especially the disadvantaged and disenfranchised populations in our country.  As an immigrant, born in Bejucal, Cuba, Maria is committed to giving a voice to minority groups. She intends on becoming a leader in the behavioral health field and serve not only as an expert provider but as a culturally competent professional. Maria’s self-actualization goal is to effect change in healthcare by contributing to the development of policy for ethnic and racial minority populations.
