RN , Doctoral (Current)
Joy Nnebe, RN, is a current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) doctoral (DNP) student at the University of South Alabama (USA), College of Nursing. Her research interest is depression and substance abuse treatment using different psychotherapeutic approaches focusing on minority populations in an outpatient mental health clinic.
Ms. Nnebe currently works as a correctional health nurse in an inpatient mental health facility, where she gained experience in psychiatric mental health, including suicide prevention and management of SUD. She knows how early exposure to substance use in the minority population has contributed to increased incarceration in this group. She is determined to provide evidence-based care to individuals affected.
Ms. Nnebe is a member of the American Nurses Association, California Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and an Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi active member. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling during her spare time. She has passion and experience in psychiatric mental health and is confident that her current education and MFP fellowship will give her a better opportunity to impact society.
