Janice Collins-McNeil, PhD, RN, APRN, CPHN, FNP-BC, earned her PhD in September 2004 at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and plans to pursue a career in nursing research. Dr. Collins-McNeil began her career in nursing as a diploma graduate at the Indianapolis School of Practical Nursing. After serving in the US Army, she returned to school to further her education and completed an Associate Degree in nursing at the University of Kentucky Community College System. She later attended Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and received a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Collins-McNeil continued her education at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, where she received a Master of Science degree having completed a double major in Community Health Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner.
She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Sigma Theta tau, Gamma lota Chapter, North Carolina State Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, American Nephrology Nurses Association, and the Southern Nursing Research Society. She is the proud mother and grandmother of two daughters and five grandchildren.
Dr. Collins-McNeil is currently the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, School of Nursing.
