Charlotte Nwogwugwu, DrPH, BSN, RN, MPH, CPH-BC, is obtaining a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialty as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Nwogwugwu earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina, Master’s in Public Health from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom and her Doctorate in Public Health from Morgan State University
Dr. Nwogwugwu is an Assistant Professor, the Office of Global Health, in the Department of Partnerships, Professional Education, and Practice, University of Maryland, School of Nursing. She has served as an assistant professor at Howard University and adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University.
She brings experience from the United Kingdom and Nigeria where she worked for the National Agency for the Control of AIDS and the National Health Service as a Public Health Commissioner.
Her research has focused on HIV and mental health and a recent study on PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) a medication which is taken daily to prevent HIV for people at very high risk for being infected with the virus.
