Jun Zenobia Shim, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, CCRN, is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student in the Executive Track at Johns Hopkins University, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. She holds dual board certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Shim's scholarly project focuses on integrating behavioral health and primary care services within communities with unmet needs, aiming to improve access to behavioral health and substance use treatment.

Shim brings over two decades of nursing experience, including 12 years as a nurse practitioner primarily in urgent care, primary care, and occupational medicine settings. She has a strong interest in addressing the mental health needs of vulnerable populations, particularly adolescents, the elderly, and the homeless, who often face barriers to mental healthcare due to trauma, stigma, or lack of inclusive care services.

A passionate advocate for community-based mental health care, Shim is actively involved with community organizations such as the Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS) in NY/NJ, Hana Homeless Mission in Paterson, NJ, and Mok-Dol-Sun counseling service in NY. Her goal is to develop and implement integrated care models that bridge the gap between behavioral health and primary care, particularly for communities with unmet needs. Through her DNP education and community engagement, she is dedicated to advancing inclusive health, enhancing mental health literacy, and promoting recovery in communities facing gaps in access to services.
