MSN, FNP-BC , Doctoral (Current)
Tamicky Davis, MSN, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate at the University of South Alabama School of Nursing in Mobile, AL. Her DNP major synthesis project will focus on implementing evidence-based criteria for quality improvement systems. The aim of the project is to decrease opioid use disorder by improving patient outcomes and reduce disparities in pain management of minority patients during the perioperative period. Studies have revealed racial disparities in pain management and management of opioid use disorder in the surgical setting.
Mrs. Davis has comprehensive experience as a family nurse practitioner. She has provided care for patients in medically underserved areas for primary care, pain management (acute, chronic and cancer pain), and opioid/substance use disorders. In her current role as a nurse practitioner in regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine within a large academic health system, she has developed the clinical skills to serve as a frontline provider to identify, treat, and manage opioid use disorder. To mitigate barriers to patients accessing medication assisted treatment in response to opioid use disorder crisis, she has obtained an X-waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. The waiver helps improve access to opioid and substance-use disorder treatment. Mrs. Davis was born and raised in Kentucky. Now living in Georgia, she is embracing a more ethnic and racially diverse population. She is committed to treating patients afflicted from pain and addiction with compassionate, respectful, and efficient care.
