Shaylice Meserole, PMHNP-BC, APRN, MSEd, is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) at Yale University and is slated to graduate in May 2023. Her DNP research focuses on adapting and developing a home-based telepsychiatry program for patients diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to improve access to care, adherence to treatment and overall quality of life. One of the eventual goals in terms of scalability of her research is to bridge the gap in care for individuals in rural and underserved communities who too often struggle with access to quality care, using telepsychiatry.
Her current research focuses on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the treatment of the PTSD and the use of telepsychiatry as a vehicle for treatment delivery for American Indians diagnosed with PTSD in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Mrs. Meserole has worked in a variety of settings including community-based outpatient psychiatric services, outpatient private practice, inpatient psychiatric services, and correctional managed healthcare. She has held many high profile professional psychiatric positions including the LEAD APRN for a community behavioral health clinic in Connecticut as well as the Director of Psychiatric Nursing for one of the largest mental health facilities in the state of Indiana. Currently Mrs. Meserole resides in the state of Connecticut and provides psychiatric services remotely to individuals within three tribal communities within the state of Michigan while also working in private practice providing care for underserved individuals within the state of Connecticut.
