Serah Alafiatayo

RN, BSN , Doctoral (Current)

Serah Alafiatayo, RN, BSN, is a first-year Doctor of Nursing Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at Franklin University. Her academic focus centers on advancing inclusive mental health care for populations with unmet needs. After being diagnosed with bipolar schizoaffective disorder at age twenty-one, Alafiatayo transformed her lived experience into a lifelong mission of advocacy, education, and leadership. Through her doctoral studies, she is dedicated to bridging the gap between clinical excellence and compassionate representation in mental health, ensuring that no one feels invisible in the care process.

Professionally, Alafiatayo serves as a Charge Nurse at Aspire Health Partners in Orlando, Florida, where she provides crisis-stabilization services to patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress. She leads by example in implementing trauma-informed and person-centered care practices while mentoring nurses on effective communication and empathy-driven intervention.

Beyond her clinical work, she volunteered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), participating in community education and outreach programs aimed at reducing stigma and increasing access to behavioral-health services among underserved groups.

Outside of her professional and academic endeavors, Alafiatayo is passionate about writing, travel, and creative wellness. She is a published author who uses storytelling to inspire healing, self-reflection, and cultural pride. Her love for travel has taken her across continents, where she explores art and the narratives that connect mental well-being to culture. She also enjoys practicing yoga, attending sound-bath sessions, and engaging in lifestyle blogging that promotes mindfulness and self-care for healthcare professionals. These creative outlets allow her to maintain balance and nurture the same sense of wholeness she encourages in others. Alafiatayo’s multidimensional passions, scholarship, and advocacy continue to shape her vision of a mental health landscape rooted in empathy, efficacy, and restoration.
