Kennie Bassey

Kennie Bassey, RN, BSc, MSc, is a second-year Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student at the University of New Hampshire. She works at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Centre's Adult Psychiatry Unit and Brattleboro Retreat's Child and Adolescent Unit.

Before moving to the US, she was a family nurse practitioner in the UK. Kennie is also an APNA Board of Directors Student Scholar and American Psychiatric Nurses Association member. Before enrolling at the University of New Hampshire, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice and at the DHU outpatient Emergency Department at Northampton General Hospital in the UK, serving diverse patients. She graduated from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital as an RN and a Midwife, RM. She furthered her career at the University of Greenwich with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health. She attended the University of Birmingham, UK, where she completed a postgraduate degree in clinical sciences as a physician associate and practiced as a physician associate in urgent care. She gained her Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing and practiced as a nurse practitioner. Kennie volunteered at Street Ministry, serving and ministering to people experiencing homelessness. She travels once a year as a medical missionary to underserved areas in different countries. She worked as a volunteer with women and children rescued from drug and alcohol use and has an interest in leadership and health. She also loves traveling to different countries to explore other cultures.  Kennies’ ultimate goal is to leverage her passion, education, and experience to become a prominent psychiatric mental health community figure. She aspires to use her platform to advocate for underrepresented populations worldwide. Her specific interest lies in working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, helping them recover, heal, and find their purpose.
