Jackson Mwangi Wanjohi, RN, is a first-year Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at Graceland University School of Nursing. For the past three years, he has focused on behavioral health, where his passion for mental wellness has continued to grow. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington.

Wanjohi began his nursing education in Kenya, earning an associate degree in nursing before advancing to complete his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Deeply committed to behavioral health, his undergraduate capstone project examined the rising rates of substance use among immigrants and people of color in Seattle. It explored the causes, public health prevention strategies, and how hospitals can use this data to drive meaningful change.

In his current role as a Nurse Professional Development Generalist in West Seattle, Wanjohi mentors both new and experienced nurses, promoting clinical excellence and continuous learning. His long-term goal is to pursue a Doctorate in Nursing and take on a leadership role in implementing evidence-based policies that address substance abuse and support communities with unmet needs.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Wanjohi is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his children, teaching Sunday school, and preparing traditional African Swahili dishes. His passion, experience, and cultural awareness fuel his mission to advocate for inclusive behavioral health services and empower individuals to overcome addiction and mental illness.
