Project funded by the National Institute on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA)/NIH – A U24 collaborative research project – Funded 100% of salary – June 2000 – August 2003.

Supervised and managed research program with staff of 2 and 4-6 masters’ student research assistants (Psychology). Compiled annual continuation grants and progress reports (2000 – 2003). Assisted students in production numerous research theses. Thesis committee member for 2 masters students in Criminal Justice Department using alcohol dataset.

Research interests included alcohol use patterns and problems among African American women. Recent research includes trends in and patterns of alcohol use among African American women. Research interests expanded to include treatment entry issues and the role of spirituality in alcohol treatment in minority populations and included the following:

• Patterns of Alcohol Use in Ethnic Minority Women
• Issues in Alcohol Treatment Entry in Women and Other Population Sub-groups
• The Role of Spirituality in the Treatment of Alcohol Problems among ethnic
• Minority sub-groups (studies completed during post-doctoral fellowship).
• (two papers published as a result of post doctoral study)

Data analysis experiences include use of large (7,000 + respondents) national data sets as well as regionally based data sets. Statistical package use includes SAS, SPSS, and STATA. More proficient in SAS.
